Philippa (Pippa, Pip) Dalgety
Architectural Graduate
MArch (Prof)
Pippa graduated from Victoria University in 2020 with her Masters in Architecture, and travelled around New Zealand designing retail furniture for GDM retail. She enjoyed the fast pace of that work, from concept design to the roll out of furniture in the stores, but soon moved to Whanganui to join the Dalgleish Architects team and work towards her architecture registration under Craig.
She has recently relocated to Windwhistle, Canterbury, returning to a farming lifestyle with her partner, who is a General Manager for Canterbury Grasslands. She grew up in Hunterville and comes from a rural background, so loves being surrounded by animals. Currently they have 6 chickens named Toffee, Pops, Tam, Chit, Chat and Quiggle, and a new black Labrador puppy named Malfy who they absolutely adore.
Pippa works remotely from Windwhistle for the Dalgleish Architects office, and still visits Whanganui regularly both to touch base with the rest of the team and to visit her family nearby. She loves those first stages of a project: meeting the client, hearing their ideas and desires, and creating concepts which bring their dreams to life. Then the excitement of putting that into the computer and creating the 3D model and showing that to the clients. For Pippa, the feeling of walking into a space once it is finished, knowing she designed it and it lived in her head for a long time, through all the stages – concept to developed design to completion – is such a thrill. Pippa loves the outdoors, and when she’s not working she is making the most of everything the South Island has to offer – from skiing to fishing, walking, and hunting. She loves to garden and play hockey. She also supports the local rugby club and loves the community aspect of sport, especially enthusiastic supporters. Growing up she enjoyed hunting on horseback and she relishes the opportunity to do that when back in the north island with family.
