A veterinary practice was established on this site in the 1970’s. The work in the 1970’s was predominantly large animal practice.
The companion animal service grew to a point where the existing facilities were no longer able to deliver the high level of service at the core of VSHB’s success.
The work is the first stage in a master-plan. Most of the master-plan was achieved in this first stage. The majority of the work concentrated on the companion animal service.
Since the 1970’s the building had grown organically. A screen element was used to unite the disparate forms and add a mana whenua reference. The VSHB Waipukurau Clinic is a significant part of the central Hawkes Bay community and VSHB wished to reflect that community.
The project was designed and built during the Covid pandemic. Covid brought with it many external challenges. We highly commend the contractors, Morris and Bailey Ltd of Dannevirke and their subcontractors, for delivering an excellent project in such trying circumstances.
