The clients (Forest Owner Marketing Services) wished to create a corporate headquarters that made a statement and represented the company ethos, inspiring pride in it’s staff and visitors. 

The project is an expression of dichotomies. Understanding who FOMS is as a company uncovered two-fold aspirations for the extension and refurbishment of the building: stable, but fluid; flexible, yet strong. This duality was recognized as central to the success of the company and was encompassed in the design response. 

The existing building lacked presence and personality, and required extensive alterations. The street frontage was drastically altered to create a strong first impression, and showcases the use of timber, as FOMS is a timber company, which extends inside into the detailing of the building entry and selected feature walls throughout. 

With a colour scheme inspired by the hues of the forest at different times of day, the interior and exterior shy away from the standard corporate, or plain, office fitout, and instead express the character of the company but also the landscape it represents.
